Job Seekers

If you are looking for a rewarding Tasmanian Apprenticeship, Traineeship or School-based Traineeship within the Building and Construction Industry, TasBGAS can assist you in achieving your career goal.

Want to be in building and construction?

Tasmanian apprenticeships are opportunities for a person of any working age to train, earn an income and gain a nationally recognised qualification in a wide range of commercial fields and traditional trades.

As an apprentice, you are required to commit to an apprenticeship for a normal duration of four years’ full-time employment. During your apprenticeship, you work on specific units of competency as per your training plan with a registered training organisation (RTO).

If you are successful in an application with TasBGAS, you will be employed by TasBGAS and placed with the host employer where you will complete your on-the-job training.

Why do your apprenticeship with TasBGAS?

The right job: We want the best for you and your host employer, providing the right opportunities to build your skills and gain great experience.

Backup plan: If circumstances change with your host employer and there is not enough work, we will do our best to find you another host so that you can continue your apprenticeship or traineeship instead of being laid off.
Safety first: It’s our number one priority. You will receive a full safety induction to ensure you remain safe in the workplace and we provide you with your safety boots, trousers/shorts and essential Personal Protection Equipment.
Taking care of training and paperwork: We organise all your off-the-job training with TAFE or other registered training organisations and take care of all the paperwork and training contracts so you can focus on your work and training. We take an active role in your training to help you achieve the best result possible.
Getting paid: Our payroll team ensures you are paid on time, every time with the correct entitlements including superannuation, holidays and sick leave throughout your apprenticeship or traineeship.

Become a trainee

Tasmanian Traineeships are opportunities for a person of any working age to train, earn an income, and gain a nationally-recognised qualification in a wide range of commercial fields.

As a trainee, you are indentured into a Cert 2 traineeship for a duration of 12 months full-time and for a Cert 3 it is a 24 months full time, depending on the traineeship field. During your traineeship, you work on specific units of theory competency as per your Training Plan with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

Women in trades

In the Building and Construction industry the number of women employed  in non traditional roles are still very scarce in Australia, even though companies embrace and support women eager to become qualified in these traditional male trades. Many businesses see countless value employing female apprentices to their labour force as women offer a huge range of skills and qualities.
